Ask better questions.

No gated downloads and no forms in the way. These are the questions we ask on real engagements — use them with any provider, including us.

BUYER'S CHECKLISTS

Questions Worth Asking Before You Sign

Three lists worth working through before you sign anything.

Before you sign an SD-WAN or WAN contract

  • What is the contract term, and what does early termination actually cost?
  • Is the underlay included, or are you buying circuits separately?
  • Who owns the configuration — you, the provider, or a third party?
  • What happens to your policy configuration if you leave?
  • Are the service levels measured end-to-end or only on the provider's segment?
  • What is the documented process when two vendors blame each other?

Before you buy another security tool

  • Which specific gap does this close that existing tooling does not?
  • Who operates it day to day, and do they have capacity?
  • What does the alert volume look like in month three?
  • Does it integrate with what you already own, or beside it?
  • What is the total cost including tuning, storage and staff time?
  • How would you prove to an auditor that it is working?

Before you migrate a workload to the cloud

  • What is the fully loaded run-rate cost after migration, including egress?
  • Which dependencies have to move at the same time?
  • What is the rollback plan, and has anyone tested it?
  • Does the network path support the new traffic pattern?
  • Where does the data live, and does that satisfy your obligations?
  • What does this workload cost to leave the platform later?
HOW WE EVALUATE PROVIDERS

Six Dimensions, Every Time

Technical fit

Does the platform actually meet the requirement, or meet an adjacent one convincingly?

Operational reality

Can your team run it with the people and hours you have, not the ones in the proposal?

Commercial terms

Term length, escalators, termination, renewal behaviour and what is genuinely negotiable.

Support model

Who answers at 2am, what they are allowed to fix, and how escalation actually works.

Exit path

What it costs in money, time and disruption to reverse the decision in three years.

Time to value

Realistic delivery timelines, including the parts that depend on carriers and landlords.

PLAIN ENGLISH

Demystifying the Vocabulary

The terms that appear most often in proposals, without the marketing.

SD-WAN

Software that decides, per application, which of your available network paths to use — and reroutes automatically when one degrades.

SASE

SD-WAN and cloud-delivered security bought as one service, so remote users get the same protection as office users.

Zero Trust

An approach where being inside the network grants no automatic access. Every request is verified on identity and device posture.

XDR / MDR

XDR correlates security signals across endpoints, network and cloud. MDR is XDR plus a staffed team watching it for you.

Colocation

Renting rack space, power and cooling in someone else's data centre. Your hardware, their building and connectivity.

vCIO

A part-time senior technology advisor for organizations that need the judgement of a CIO without the salary of one.
